Introducing the Rose Bouquet Felt Headbands

Rose Bouquet Felt Headbands in Heather Gray, Hot Pink and Yellow

My sister, Nana, fell in love with a couple of my daughter's headbands that we got when we were on vacation a few of months ago.  After months of trying to get our hands on the felt headbands with no luck, my sister decided to use those headbands as inspiration and created the Rose Bouquet Felt headbands.  They are now available at www.kittenandnana.com!  The colors above are my favorite though if you want to add a little spunk, this one could be perfect for you:

Zebra and Fuchsia Combination

This collection comes in 9 different colors, all solid with the exception of the Zebra and Fuchsia combination above.  She PASSIONATELY handcrafted each and every headband with love... I must share though that she even got burnt by the glue gun at one point while making these.  My poor sis!

Show her some love and check out these headbands at our store!

Going Bananas!

With one week left before the 2011 Walnut Creek Family Fest, we have been very busy with preparations for the event and making new products to add to our collection of hair accessories.  Add to that chasing after our three girls, being carpool drivers, homework, attending playdates, etc. and we are indeed going bananas!  In as much as we have been so busy, we really can't complain.  The joy and excitement we feel over the overwhelming response we have gotten so far for Kitten and Nana more than makes up for it.

We just added these cute little monkeys to our store.  The Trisha & Francis Hair Elastics are sold in pairs.  Like the Corduroy Owl Clips, they are handmade with love from felt and are  perfectly imperfect.  I must say, we really are getting very good at mastering our clip-making skills.

Trisha and Francis
You know how some of our products are inspired by or named after actual people, places, events, etc. in our lives?  Well, as I was making these hair elastics, they were the first ones to pop into my head.  Meet my good friends, Trisha & Francis...

Theirs is a story of true love and friendship.  They have been together for so long, yet everything about them is so new.  I have such admiration not only for their devotion and commitment to each other, but also for proving that the honeymoon never ends.

Oh, and did I mention that they happen to LOVE monkeys??? :-)

love,
Nana

Who doesn't love leg warmers on your little ones?

We have just added a collection of Leg Warmers at Kitten and Nana today.  We are truly excited about this because our kids are a leg-warmer-wearing bunch!  Leg warmers help them keep warm during cold weather but when it is not too cold, we find that:

♥ it helps protect new walkers' knees from scrapes when they fall down
♥ it gives crawlers a little bit of padding when they move around
♥ if worn with a onesie, it makes quick diaper changes even quicker
♥ it makes potty training easy
♥ it completes an outfit, wear them with onesies, shorts, skirts, dresses, pants... the possibilities are endless!

It's definitely a STYLISH, FUN and FUNCTIONAL accessory for any child!

Are you one of us?

*wink*

Busy Mommas!

"Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it." - Henry David Thoreau

I surely wish that Mr. Thoreau, an American essayist, poet, and philosopher, is correct on this one!  My sister and I have been really very busy the past week making more items for the store in preparation for our very first festival on Labor Day weekend.

We've been busy brainstorming and making new stuff for Kitten and Nana, busy chasing after and taking care of our daughters, busy being homemakers, busy being momtrepreneurs, and the list goes on... The past week has been crazy-fun and it will continue to be this way (or even busier) until our first vendor appearance in the Kids Fest in September.

This morning, in the middle of all these, I realized that we've been socially quiet as well, and a part of me felt a little guilty for forgetting to update this blog, our Facebook page and twitter account.  I used to have a mommy blog which I committed on updating DAILY during the first year of my daughter's life that a few days of inactivity on this blog felt like I was slacking, haha! But, despite being missing in action the past few days, we can't be more thankful because we have seen the most activity on our Facebook page.  We have seen a rapid increase in Facebook fans this past week, we are at 345 fans (and growing!) as I write this blog entry! Thank you so much to all our family and friends... old friends and NEW friends, for the love!

Corduroy Owl Clips-- Perfectly Imperfect!

We just added some cute corduroy owl clips to our store today. These perfectly imperfect clips are made by me and my sister, Nana.

I say that they are "imperfect" because they are personally made by us... though we like to think that we are clip-making-professionals, the truth is we are not... but our goal is to be one, and I think we will get there quite soon!

making them with love...

Now, I say "perfect" because each clip is made with love.  If you factor in the love, joy and excitement generated while making these clips, then you have a clip made to perfection!  The unevenness of the outlines, cut by our bare hands using our cheap crafts scissors, add character to these clips... yeah!

You know what else makes these clips extra special?  We named them after some of our childhood family pets that we loved so dear... Whiskey, Muffin, Ziggy and Kiwi... Aaah Kwi, he was our dad's favorite!

We Are Very Busy Bees!

Hi guys!  This is Trina ("Nana").  Being in business with my dear sister is indeed a dream-come-true. It's amazing what we can come up with when we put our heads together.  Well, the last week has been pretty hectic and I must say, I have never been happier about being this busy in my entire life.  It's true what they say, work isn't work if you're having fun with it.

Yesterday, I started working on our Vintage Moderne Collection (coming soon!).  Here's a little peek at what's coming up...

Isn't it exciting?!?  We have had so  many milestones in the last week, I cannot even begin to tell you how much more there is to look forward to.  Stay tuned for more exciting news, promos & giveaways and new products for kids...and grown ups too.

Yochi Yochi Eco-Friendly Squeaky Shoes Now Available!

We have exciting news, Yochi Yochi Eco-Friendly Squeaky Shoes Line is now available at www.kittenandnana.com! We have partnered with this company so we can bring these adorable shoes to you.

Yochi Yochi Prince Kairu Eco-Friendly Squeaky Shoes
Yochi Yochi Princess Sakura Eco-Friendly Squeaky Shoes

Yochi Yochi shoes are made with a small squeaking diaphragm in the heel of each shoe which causes a small squeak when your child takes a step. The noise is fun, but we think it goes beyond that.

With the squeaking sound of every step, you can find comfort in that fact that your stealthy child will have a hard time getting away from your side without you knowing.

In addition to safety, many doctors have suggested that when children can audibly recognize their footsteps, the sounds can reinforce the natural rhythm of walking and actually help train them to walk.

Yochi Yochi  strives to create durable products at great prices because we know how fast your children grow up!

Yochi Yochi - For a Smaller Footprint

We're proud to say we've applied environmentally friendly practices in the manufacturing of Yochi Yochi shoes. Doing our part to protect the habitats of our animal neighbors. You can feel comfortable knowing that with your purchase of these small shoes you can make a smaller footprint on our natural habitats. Yochi Yochi manufacturing uses-

-Water-based dyes for printing. As a result, any effluents from the factory are not harmful to the environment

-Use of energy-efficient equipment such as our fans, air conditioners, and stitching machines which saves 25% on energy consumption compared to the less expensive standard options

-Storage of rain water for daily factory use

Working is Fun!

We got together today to work. It's amazing how much we can accomplish when work doesn't feel like well... work. Yesterday, 4 days into our launch date, we received a couple orders via our website, www.kittenandnana.com, for the very first time!  It was so funny how we called each other up after the very first order came in, congratulating each other like giddy schoolgirls!  After printing our very first packing slip & postage, and after boxing the very first and official online transaction at www.kittenandnana.com, we couldn't help but take a photo of "THE" very first package!

We then continued to package some of our products in Kitten and Nana packaging since we just recently got the customized cards in the mail.

2-inch Boutique Hair Bows
Petite Hair Bow Clippies
Korker Bows
Don't they look purrrrty!?

Cheers!

100 Facebook Fans!

We have Just reached 100 fans on Facebook!  We are very proud to hit this milestone on our 5th day of operation. Thank you so much for your support.  Our next goal? 200 fans!   We will try to come up with something fun like another giveaway when we hit 200. So please help us spread the word!

So what else is going on...

Our $25 giveaway is doing quite well.  We asked our fans to give us suggestions on what they want to see us sell at  kittenandnana.com in the future, and we are getting good response.  Join in if you want to win $25 to our store!  The contest is open through August 11 and we will randomly draw a winner on the 12th.  One suggestion = one entry, there is no limit on the suggestions so keep them coming. The more suggestions, the more chances of winning!

Anyway, we were contacted this morning by one of our fans on Facebook about a cause that she is supporting.  She asked us if we could help spread the word about a little girl trying to raise money by this fall to acquire an allergy alert service dog.  This little girl, Ginny, is fatally allergic to peanuts and was ordered by the doctor to avoid any group activities.  If she eats peanuts, touches a surface or breathes anything with peanut particles, she will have an fatal anaphylactic allergic reaction if not treated within minutes! Let's help this little girl by donating or spreading the word!  You can learn more about peanut allergy here and you can go to Ginny's website by clicking here.  Thanks in advance!
